Who we are
Our History
The Municipal Area Museum Association (MAMA) is a non profit neighborhood association that for nearly 30 years has promoted activism and social interaction through its civic minded volunteers with the purpose of improving our neighborhoods and overall quality of life. While our neighborhood has undergone quite a transformation over the past 30 years, many of the issues we face today are still quite the same. MAMA has been at the forefront of working with residents, businesses, elected officials and other organizations and institutions to provide a cohesive voice on those issues that affect our neighborhood. We welcome all of our new neighbors to join MAMA and encourage our existing members and old friends to renew their memberships. It is an exciting time for MAMA and our neighborhood!
Founded in 1993, The Museum Area Municipal Association, MAMA, is organized to engage in charitable and educational activities for the benefit of the general public and the inhabitants of those certain urban geographical areas and communities in Houston, Harris County, Texas, bounded as follows; Main Street on the east, Bissonnet Street on the south, Graustark Street and its southerly extension along the east side of Broadacres Subdivision on the west and U.S. Highway 59 on the north.
